UTEP Senior Wesley Miller was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week the league announced on Monday.
The captain led the Miners defense to a 24-21 victory over Middle Tennessee on Saturday. The former walk-on tied his career high 11 tackles versus the Blue Raiders. This marked the sixth contest of the season that Miller led the team in tackles. He topped the night with an interception giving the Miners a perfect 4-0, league record in the Sun Bowl.
This is the seniors’ first C-USA player of the week honor and the teams second of the season. UTEP secured a 7-5 winning season for the first time since 2005.
